About Us
The Pollinator Collective
We are a collective of "eco-preneurs" and community members in the Front Range who are passionate about native plants and saving our pollinators.
We want to make it as easy as possible for everyone to plant for pollinators, and grow a supportive ecosystem of community members. The Pollinator Collective is an initiative of Simply Bee Conservation, a 501(c)3.
Why are we so passionate about native plants?
Saving pollinators is about more than just honeybees. Native plants and pollinators evolved together, and they need each other. Our gardens support pollinators and offer many benefits 👇
Native Bees
While honey bees are important, they can feed on most flowers. But native bees need native plants to survive. They need specific plants to feed on, or to complete their lifecycle. Native bees include hundreds of species like bumblebees, sweat bees, digger bees, and more!
Biodiversity
Native plant gardens attract and support biodiversity! They attract wildlife like songbirds, hummingbirds, and beneficial insects like native bees 🐝 butterflies 🦋 and beetles 🐞
Waterwise
Colorado native plants included in our kits are waterwise, meaning once they're established they need no extra water! Lawns are thirsty, native plants are not 💦
Connect Habitat
Did you know some tiny native bees can only fly 50 ft at a time? With enough people planting native gardens, we can connect habitat for pollinators to create a "flyway" so they have plenty of food and safe spaces to rest. 🌻
Low Maintenance
Because native plants adapted to our ecoregion's conditions, they need very little maintenance once established. Sit back, relax, and let nature do her thing! 🌱
Organic
Because these plants attract pollinators, don't spray pesticides or herbicides! ⚠️ It will save pollinators, and your health! Plus, because native plants thrive in our soil conditions swap fertilizer for compost.
The Team
This project was initiated by Tyler, Lindsey, and Aaron whose paths crossed because of the Pollinator Advocate program through Cool Boulder. They share a passion for empowering our community to take action to save bees and restore ecosystems.
But none of this would be possible without the support of community partners like:
